Linda Rhodes Athas

Linda Rhodes Athas, 82 of West Springfield passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on August 15th at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Holyoke, MA the daughter of the late Harold E. Rhodes and Eleanor (Kozik) Rhodes. She was educated in Holyoke Schools and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1959.
Linda was the wife of Thomas J. Athas of West Springfield with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage.
Linda worked in various positions for Tyco Corp. (Ludlow Corp. Marvellum Co.) for 26 years. She worked at Rexham Co. in Westfield for a short time until the company closed. She joined Atlantic Fasteners in West Springfield in 1991 and worked until her retirement in 2013.
She leaves her husband Thomas, her sister Mary Buss of Granby and her brother Harold
Rhodes of Leitchfield, KY. She also leaves her brothers-in-law William (Lucy) of Florida, Gary (Judy) of West Springfield, her sister-in-law Joanne of Florida and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brother-in-law Robert Athas and sister-in-law Susan Rhodes.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 22 from 10-11 at Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home with burial to follow at Paucatuck Cemetery in West Springfield. In lieu of flowers family requests a donation in her memory be made to the West Springfield Senior Center, 128 Park St., West Springfield, MA 01089 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
