Obituary

Linda (Sigda) Emmons passed away unexpectedly on July 11. She was 74 years old. Born in Holyoke on January 23, 1952, she was one of two girls born to Joseph and Celia (Filar) Sigda. Linda lived in West Springfield since 2006 and South Hadley before that. She married the late William Emmons June 23, 1969.

Linda earned an Associates Degree from Holyoke Community College and worked as an Optician until her retirement in 2013.

Linda had a zest for life and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She made every birthday and holiday fun and memorable. She was an outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed bird watching, flowers and gardening. Together with her whole family she loved vacations at Old Orchard Beach.

Linda was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Celia Sigda, and her loving husband William F. Emmons. She is survived by her devoted son William (Kristin) Emmons, Jr. of Feeding Hills, daughters Jennifer (Jeffrey) Puffer of Westfield, and Jillian Emmons of Greenfield; grandchildren Hailey, Hunter and Hannah Emmons, and a beloved sister-in-law Sharen Theroux. Arrangements have been entrusted to TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME and include an 11:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church in West Springfield on Thursday, followed by 1pm committal at the Massachusetts Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Linda’s name to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
