Lionel J. Couture, 67, died peacefully on February 28, 2026 surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer. Born in Springfield, he was a self-employed contractor, well known for his meticulous craftsmanship in cedar siding (and always having his German Shepherds at the jobsite with him).

He enjoyed spending quality time with family and lifelong friends, along with being in Becket on his boat.

Lionel was predeceased by his father Raymond Couture in 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Mary (McNamara) Couture, their daughter Danielle Couture and her fiancé Nick Jimmo of Springfield, his mother Therese (Nadeau) Couture of West Springfield; sisters Sylvie Brown and her husband Joseph of Feeding Hills and Denise Buteau and her husband Robert of Agawam, his brother-in-law, Jim McNamara and his wife Liz of Belchertown, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Visitation will be from 1-4pm on March 15 at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, and a brief Celebration of Life will be incorporated within those hours.
