Holyoke –Louis W. “Lou” Dasso, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the comfort of his loving family, on May 14, 2024. Born in Springfield on October 23, 1955, he was 68 years old. He was the beloved son to the late William and Anella (Scibelli) Dasso. Lou was a dedicated guard for the Hampden County Sherriff’s Office for many years. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing with friends and family on the course as often as he could and continued to play until a week before his passing. In his spare time, Lou enjoyed going to casinos with friends, cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Yankees and Bruins, and spending time with his big, beautiful family. More than anything in the world, he loved and cherished his time with his grandchildren, especially when cheering them on in their sports activities. His love for his family and friends was truly unmatched and unconditional and he touched the lives of all who knew him. Lou will be missed by his devoted wife of 45 years Maryellen (Whalen) Dasso; son Adam Dasso and his wife Kara of West Springfield; Daughter Kelley DeVantier and her husband Christopher of Oakland, MI; brothers Ernest (Mary) Dasso of Springfield and Kenneth (Janice) Dasso of Westfield; sister Elizabeth “Betty” Dasso of Springfield; grandchildren Brady, Jon, Jack, Luke and Emma; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 4-7pm on Tuesday at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN Funeral Home in West Springfield. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be at 10am on Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield followed by committal at St. Michael’s cemetery in Springfield.
