Obituary
Louis V. Gotta, 93, passed away Thursday at Mt. St. Vincent Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Louis was born in Springfield on February 15, 1925 to the late Joseph and Frances (Ferrero) Gotta. As a youth he attended Springfield Technical High School. For many years he helped operate the family business, Gotta Mobil Homes and in his later years he worked at Rocky’s Hardware. He was the loving husband of 63 years to Elizabeth (Garde) Gotta, beloved father of Paul and his wife Maryanne of West Springfield, Mary Gotham of San Diego, CA, and Roseanne Wiggins and her husband Mark of Willington, CT, loving brother of Margaret Halgas of Wilbraham, devoted grandfather of Sarah, Stephen, Lindsey, Andrea, Jacob and Matthew, devoted great-grandfather of Christopher and Taylor, and was predeceased by his loving son Stephen. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 am from the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial 10am at St. Thomas Church with the burial at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 4 – 7pm at Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louis’s name, may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Church or School, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.
