Louis R. Matte

West Springfield � Louis R. Matte, 86, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center after a long courageous battle with many medical conditions. Lou was born, December, 14, 1929 to the late Reginald and Nora (Polverari) Matte. He graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1948 and served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Lou worked as a draftsman for over 30 years, mostly at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT. Lou was predeceased by his wife, Mary T. (Barrett) Matte in 1986 and son, Stephen J. Matte in 1978. He leaves a son, Allan L. Matte of West Springfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lou was predeceased by his brother Frederick Matte and his sister, Marlene J. Santaniello. Gardening was Lou�s main hobby and he liked to share his vegetables with friends and neighbors. He enjoyed relaxing under his favorite backyard tree near the garden, proudly talking about his fruits and vegetables, as well as his giant sunflowers. His family and friends knew Lou as an intelligent gentleman with a great sense of humor. Lou will always be loved and missed by his family and friends. A special thanks to Dr. Gregory L. Braden and the staff at Renal and Transplant Associates of New England, PC. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 5-7 PM at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. There will be a Funeral Home service 11 AM Monday followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Holyoke Soldiers� Home, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
