Marcia M. (Gillett) Lussier

Marcia G. (Gillett) Lussier, 96, passed away January 31, 2017 at Mt. St. Vincent Care Center in Holyoke, MA. She was a native of West Hartford, CT and was graduated from St. Joseph College in 1941. She lived with her parents, Omar and Helen Gillett, and worked as a teacher prior to marrying Ronald J. Lussier in 1951. They moved to Western Massachusetts and raised their 4 children in Chicopee and West Springfield, instilling them with the essentials, a good work ethic and a sense of humor. She spent the next few decades keeping a clean house and making thousands of delicious meals which always came with dessert! After her children were grown, she worked for Nancy Waddell of Western Mass Elder Care. She and her family are grateful for Nancy�s help in finding care for Ronald as he battled with Alzheimer�s until his death in 1996 and for the assistance to Marcia in her later years. For the last 13 years she was part of the Mt. St. Vincent Care Center family. The staff there kindly and lovingly cared for her. She and her family will be eternally grateful for all they did. She made friends throughout her life and delighted in their company, especially Helen L., Barbara P., Dorothy B., and Debbie T. She was a member of the Women�s Auxiliary of the Passionist Retreat House, various Alzheimer�s Support groups and the Western Mass. Chapter the National Alzheimer Association. She lost her beloved cousin Valeria Kane of NYC in 1997. She is survived by her daughter Mary Lussier and her husband James Yess of Bristol, RI, and her sons Paul Lussier of Hudson, MA, Mark Lussier of West Springfield, MA, and Brian Lussier along with his wife Patricia and son Mark of Terryville, CT. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m at Toomey-O�Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St. West Springfield. The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. St. Vincent Care Center, Group Resident Fund, 35 Holy Family Road, Holyoke, MA 01040.
