Margaret A. Metcalf (Maggi), of Chicopee, Massachusetts, formerly of West Springfield, passed peacefully at home, on September 13, 2026. She was born to the late Frederick and Barbara (Fearon}Mielke, November 10, 1951, in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Maggi graduated from Easthampton High School in 1969 and received a BS in Education from Westfield State College in 1973. She.married Neil T. Metcalf of Holyoke, in'1977,.and they lived together in West Springfield for 40 years, before relocating to Chicopee in 2019. Maggi was a Special Needs teacher for 10 years in the Easthampton Public School System until she retired in 1987. She then worked for many years as a sales associate for Steiger’s, and as a pediatric medical assistant. Maggi was an avid camper, and enjoyed traveling to Florida, with her husband Neil. Most of all, Maggi enjoyed spending time with her family. She dedicated 20 years of her life to supporting her daughter's love of baton twirling and marching band and was often referred to as “Mommy Metcalf” by her band kids. Maggi was passionate about making a difference for children and their families. Maggi is survived by her loving husband and best friend Neil, two children: Sarah Goff and.her husband Jeremy, of Chicopee; Kristen Rodriguez and her husband Camilo also of Chicopee, as well as her brothers Frederick and his wife Ann Carey of Southampton, and Stephen and his wife Michelle of Melbourne, FL. Calling hours will be Sunday September 20, 2026, from 1-4PM at Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St West Springfield. Burial will be Monday September 21, 2026, at St Thomas Cemetery at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, her family is requesting that donations be made to the Massachusetts Special Olympics
