Obituary

West Springfield- Marguerite “Peggy” G. (Bertrand) Cyr, 90, of Hampden Street passed away Sunday (1/25/26) at Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Springfield on July 21, 1935, to the late Alphonse and Jeanne (Ethier) Bertrand. She lived most of her life in West Springfield. Peggy worked as a hairdresser for years at the former Sharon’s Hair Care in West Springfield. She was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas Church in West Springfield. She loved vacationing with her family at Wells Beach in Maine. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino and was a Bingo enthusiast. Peggy was the loving widow of Renald “Ray” Cyr who passed away in 2023, beloved mother of Richard “Rick” Cyr and his wife Dee of Feeding Hills and Gerard “Gerry” Cyr of West Springfield, caring sister of Albert Bertrand, Connie Londergan, and Claire Bertrand, and devoted grandmother of Timothy Bennett- Cyr and his mother Sue Bennett of Westfield. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9-10 am at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. There will be a Funeral Home Service to follow at 10 am. There will be a Committal Service at 11 am at the Massachusetts Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. In lieu of flowers donations in Peggy’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
