Obituary
Marilyn Drumm, of West Springfield, MA, took her last earthly breath on Sunday, March 6, 2022, with her daughter, Eileen, by her side. Born January 22, 1935, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Nathan Scully and Hazel (Dunbar) Scully.  Along with her parents, welcoming her into the next life are siblings Robert, Richard and Edmund Scully, sister Margaret Marquette, son Robbie Drumm and many other family members and friends who went before her. Marilyn had a great sense of drama and humor and continued to be proud of being voted “Most Mischievous” and “Class Actress” in her graduating class of 1952 at West Springfield High School.  With her ability to jump about an inch off the ground (and we’re being generous!), Marilyn gave up her dream of cheerleading and pom- poms for the stage.  In a different time, Marilyn may have pursued her dream to go to the Pasadena Playhouse to study acting, but it was the early 1950s and Marilyn’s parents were not on board with that dream.  So, after high school, Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, Ronnie Drumm, and raised four children.  Divorced in 1972, Marilyn took her part time job of working in her brother Bob Scully’s West Springfield CPA office to a full time Office Manager position where she stayed happily employed until Bob retired.  From there, she took a position as the Office Manager for The Salvation Army in Springfield, from which she retired in 1999. Marilyn loved West Springfield and never wanted to live anywhere else.  For the 22 years she lived in Agawam, if someone asked “where do you live,” her stock response was “Agawam, but I’m from West Springfield” and she eventually got back across the railroad tracks. She was on every high school class reunion committee, including her 60th.  Until Alzheimer’s took away her ability to do so, Marilyn went on monthly lunch outings with high school friends, and occasional summer trips with Shirley, Maureen, Bernie, and others. Her trip of a lifetime was to Ireland in 1985, a lifelong dream come true. She never forgot a birthday, would pull her car over to pick up an elderly person struggling to carry groceries up the hill on Route 20, bought Christmas gifts for the Angel Tree project, which provided gifts for the children of incarcerated parents, and donated yearly to the Paralyzed Veterans of America organization. To carry on her legacy of love, laughter and generosity, Marilyn leaves her sister Janet Green (John), sons Rick Drumm (Betsey) and Ronnie Drumm (Kathy), daughter Eileen Drumm Moore (Bob), four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Please join the family, Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield, MA for a visiting hour from 10 am-11am, followed by a brief service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Marilyn’s memory to the 2022 Pioneer Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s https://act.alz.org/ and search for Eileen Drumm Moore under “walkers.” Or you may send a donation by mail to: Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
