Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Marion (Denesha) Betterton announces her passing on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the age of 88, after a long illness. Marion was born on June 29, 1932 in Orange, Vermont. She joined the Air Force in 1952 at the age of 19 and served until 1955. She and her husband, Gilbert Betterton, were married while serving in England in 1954 and enjoyed 65 years of life together. They settled in Granby, MA after Gil retired from the Air Force and they raised three sons. She continued to work in various positions. Marion and Gil spent their free time helping at the Granby Senior Center and at the Holyoke Soldiers’ home. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, camping, biking, traveling, cooking (especially pork pies during the holidays), gardening, helping her children with projects, and spending time in Florida. Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Gilbert F. Betterton and her parents, Olive and Charles Denesha. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Gertrude Guidetti, Hilda Destromp, and Margaret Hamel as well as her brothers, Charles Denesha and Bruce Denesha. Marion is survived by her children, Chuck and Rebecca Betterton, Richard Betterton, and Steven and Lynne Betterton. She will be lovingly remembered by her 5 grandchildren: Richard, Jr., Emily, Daniel, Steven, and Alyssa. All services are private.
