Martin J. Cain Jr., 84, of Shady Brook passed away peacefully Monday at home. He was born in Winthrop, MA on July 3rd, 1932 to the late Helen (Howard) and Martin J. Cain Sr. He has lived in West Springfield for the last 17 yrs. Martin was a Division Manager for MeadWestvaco � Flexible Packaging Division. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester and later received his MBA from Harvard Business School. He was a U.S. Air Force Korean War Veteran. Martin was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and prior to that he was a communicant of St. Mary�s Church in Longmeadow. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriot fan. His great joy in life was spending time at the family vacation home at Higgins Beach in Scarborough, ME. Martin Cain was the person everyone wanted to be around. He loved coaching baseball, having his home be open to the friends of all his kids, and being a key player in his church. He was the loving husband of Patricia C. (Wells) Cain and he was previously married to the late Elizabeth (Whitty) Cain. He was the beloved father of Terence Cain and his wife Kelly of Scarborough, ME, David Cain and his companion Rachel of Scarborough, ME, Mary Donlan of Portland, ME, Lawrence Cain and his wife Caterina of East Islip, NY, Ellen Bankert and her husband John of Medfield, MA, Peter Cain and his fianc�e Donna of Suffern, NY, and Elizabeth Layman and her husband Guy of Poquoson, VA, devoted grandfather of 17 and he leaves several nieces and nephews. The calling hours will be Wed. from 4-7 at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Spfld. There will be a Funeral Mass Thurs. 9:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield followed by an entombment at St. Michael�s Cemetery in Springfield.
