Obituary
Mary E. Lewis, 87, passed away July 22, 2019. She was born August 13, 1931 to the late Thomas and Mary Mitchell. Mary was a graduate of Cathedral High School. She worked in the area for many years as a personal care assistant. Mary enjoyed taking care of others and also enjoyed doing crafts, flower arrangements and gardening. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her fur babies. Mary was predeceased by her husband George Lewis in 2011. She leaves her children; Mary Dec of West Springfield, Judith Eckert and her husband Harold of Ware, Joann Harrison of West Springfield, and George Lewis and his wife Kelly of Chicopee, her 12 grandchildren and one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Mary was also predeceased by her brother Thomas Mitchell and son-in-law Bryan Dec. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held FRIDAY at 9:30 AM in St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St., W. Spfld. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Calling Hours will be held THURS from 5 to 8 PM at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to the Alzheimer’s Association of Mass, 264 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104-3274
