With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Mary C. Devine Scully, 84, of West Springfield, MA, formerly of Enfield, CT. On March 5, 2025, we lost our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, and retired teacher.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support for her family. She found immense joy in celebrating holidays with loved ones, reminiscing with extended family and friends, and indulging in her favorite pastimes, including antiquing, trips to the beach and spa with her daughters, and cherished conversations with her grandsons. A true lover of literature, she participated in book clubs and followed politics passionately—though recent times brought her much concern.
Among her most meaningful achievements was her lifelong dedication to teaching. Over decades, she profoundly impacted the lives of many students, particularly those with the greatest needs. Her sense of humor was unmatched, and she had an innate ability to laugh at herself first and foremost.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Scully, and her parents, Mary Gandolfi Devine and John Devine. She leaves behind in grief her loving children: Katherine Scully, Debra Scully-Wagner, Keith Wagner, Raymond Scully, Susan Marsden, and Jonathan Marsden; her adored grandchildren: Tanner Gleason, Jacob Wagner, Matthew Gleason, and Maxxwell Scully; and her cherished siblings: John Devine (Jack), Michelle Devine, Richard Devine, and Howard Daniel. She is also survived by nieces and a nephew, many cousins, and step grandchildren.
Mary’s warmth, wisdom, and humor will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
