April 10, 1945 — May 7, 2024

West Springfield –MaryAnn (Morse) Charland passed away at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family on May 7, 2024 at 79 years old. She was born April 10, 1945, daughter to the late Roland and Anna Morse. MaryAnn was a graduate of Elms College School of Nursing and had a long career at Baystate Medical Center. MaryAnn was a lifelong resident of West Springfield. She loved summers at her family cottage on Norwich Lake, cooking countless meals for family and friends. It was truly her happy place and brought joy to all who spent time there. Friends quickly became family, both at the lake and in her home. MaryAnn was a natural caregiver, spending many hours providing nursing care to family, friends, and anyone in need. MaryAnn was predeceased by her son Robert “Bobby” Charland. She is survived by her son David Charland and his wife Lori and their son Brett; daughter Susanne (Charland) Jegelewicz and her husband Vincent. She is also survived by her brothers John Morse, Thomas Morse, and his wife Lorraine; sister Sally (Morse) Lynch and her late husband Jack; and multiple cherished nephews, nieces, sisters-in-laws, and treasured friends. David and Sue would like to extend their deep gratitude for the love and care provided to MaryAnn when she was in need. In the spirit of how she loved others, so many people stepped up, helping in both little and big ways. She had an amazing tribe. The family extends special thanks to the team that cared for her during her last months, notably Sister Caritas nurses Kelly O’Brien and Cindy Leonard. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10am, Saturday June 1 at St. Thomas Church at 47 Pine St. in West Springfield. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers consider a donation in MaryAnn’s honor to the Patient Care Fund-Sister Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
