Michael Francis Murray, at the age of 52,�of West Springfield,�was called to heaven Wednesday at home. He was born and raised in Springfield�but settled in West Springfield in 1993. He was a West Springfield Police Officer and recently retired over�20 years of service to the town. In 1984, Mike joined the�U.S. Army 2nd Ranger�Battalion�and honorably served his country during the Gulf War and was the recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6714 and the Verdi Club in West Springfield. He learned parachuting in the service and skydiving became one of his favorite things to do later in his life. He was the beloved son of Michael Murray of West Springfield and the late Karleen J. (Mahoney) Parzych, and a�loving husband of Kathleen M. (Barry) Murray. Mike was predeceased by his brother Timothy Murray, and a father�to Christine Murray of NH. He�also leaves his stepfather�John Parzych as well as stepbrothers of Jim, John, and Jeff Parzych. He was a loving and�caring stepfather of Tanya Drapeau of Agawam and Jeremy Drapeau of Springfield. Also grandfather of Fiona, Alyson, of N.H.�and Katie of Agawam.�He was the stepbrother of Annie Davidson, Bridget Fiala, and Kevin Murray. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Calling hours will be from 4-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. There will be a Funeral Home Service Tuesday at 10 AM at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield followed by a Committal Service with full Military Honors at the Massachusetts Veterans� Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
