Michael J Flaherty Jr

Michael Joseph Flaherty, Jr., 81, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Harrington Health Care in Webster. He was born in Springfield on October 3, 1941 to the late Bridget T. (Kennedy) and Michael J. Flaherty, Sr. He lived most of his life in West Springfield. He worked at New England Container for many years, the U.S. Post Office, and he also worked for many years in the Rhode Island Building during the Big E. Michael was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas Church. Besides his parents Michael was predeceased by his siblings; Margaret Flaherty, Mary Hogan, John Flaherty, James Flaherty, and his niece Kate Hogan. He leaves his beloved sister-in-law, Mary Flaherty of West Springfield and his sister-in-law Jan Flaherty of Westfield, and many devoted nieces and nephews; Mary Anne, Jack, Bill, Joe, Tom, Eileen, Tom, Megan, and Michael. He also leaves 15 grand nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. There will be a Funeral Mass Monday at 10 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. The Burial will be Private at St. Thomas Cemetery. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
