Michael R Jones

Michael “Mike” or “Ricky” Jones passed away peacefully at BayState Medical Center in Springfield, MA on October 4, 2023 after a brief but serious illness. Mike was born on March 9, 1953 in Washington, DC. to the late Hilda (Brooks) Bright and Charles Jones, Jr. After his mom passed in 1965, Mike moved to Madison, WI to live with relatives and lived in Madison for several years. He went on to call London, Ontario, Durham, NC, Creedmoor, NC and West Springfield, MA his homes. Over the last 8 years, he & his life partner, Sandy Brodeur, shared the love of travel, adventure, shows, music, visiting friends and family far & wide. Ricky is survived by his brothers Gary Bright of Jacksonville, FL, Darryl Bright of McLeansville, NC and sisters Diana Chapman, Conchita Yancey-Jones and Carmelita Jones all of Washington, DC. He also leaves his stepmother, Catherine Jones, nieces & nephews Cheryl Bright, Gary Bright, Jr., Rochelle Chapman and Marcus Yancey, as well as great-nephews Andre, Imre & Gary (G3). Mike will also be missed by Sandy’s children, parents and family who got to know him during his time in West Springfield, MA. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
