Agawam

Michael Lim, 55, of Agawam, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18th after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Springfield, Michael was the son of Eva Polon, also of Springfield. He is survived by his brothers Alex of Springfield and Anthony of New Hampshire. Michael also leaves behind his former wife and friend Kelly Lim, and their four children-Kieran (24), Lukas (19), Maile (17), and Nicholas (17)-all of West Springfield, who were the pride and joy of his life.

He is also survived by his mother-in-law Rose MacKinnon of Springfield, his brother-in-law Stephen MacKinnon of West Springfield, his wife Jaime, and their children Jack, Kendall, and Rylie Ray of North Carolina; as well as his lifelong best friend James Kennedy of Ludlow.

Michael built a long and respected career in Security, Emergency Management, and Law Enforcement. He worked at Mass Mutual, served with the West Springfield Auxiliary Police Department, and was most recently a Security Supervisor at Baystate Medical Center Springfield. A keen observer and dedicated professional, Michael was deeply committed to safeguarding patients, visitors, and hospital staff every day with his colleagues in the Security Department.

Outside of work, Michael was a devoted father who loved spending time with his children and working on his golf game. Michael enjoyed celebrating his Hawaiian heritage through tattoo artistry performed by his talented friend Scot Padgett.

Services will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, August 29th at Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home in West Springfield. Family and friends are invited to a visitation hour beginning at 10:30am at the funeral home. A private burial is planned for later in the day.

Michael’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Baystate Medical Center staff of the Emergency Department, Wesson 4, Daly 6B, and Daly 5B/SICU for the wonderful care Michael received, as well as to the Pulmonologists involved in his care that he fondly called his “Pulmonary Dream Team.”

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s name to Baystate Medical Center.
