Michael J Murphy

Michael J. Murphy, 73, passed away December 3 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Born in Springfield, September 28, 1949, the son of the late Robert and Margaret (Dunse) Murphy. Michael was a decorated Vietnam Veteran who served in the Navy. He was a West Springfield Auxiliary Police Officer for over 22years and worked for the H.P. Hood Company. He was an active member of VFW Post 6714. His beloved wife, Patricia died in 2017. He leaves his loving son, Michael J. Murphy Jr. with whom he lived, his beloved siblings, Robert and his wife Diane of West Springfield, Patricia Murphy of West Springfield and Timothy and his wife Susan of F. Hills and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Daniel. Burial with military honors will be held at the Mass Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam Tuesday December 13, 2022, at 2PM. Calling hours will be at the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St. West Springfield Tuesday from 11-1:00.
