Michael F. Murray

Michael Francis Murray, 81, passed away on January 20, 2023. Michael was born on November 26, 1941 in West Springfield to William and Ruth (Hickson) Murray. He graduated West Springfield High School and entered the United States Air Force. Upon his discharge, he moved to Florida and began a career as a police officer at the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. Missing his family, Michael retired from the police department and relocated back to West Springfield where he joined the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 104 as a steamfitter until he retired in 2006. Michael leaves behind his best friend and partner, Jane Loftus, his three children Kevin Murray, Anne Davidson and Bridget Fiala along with seven grandchildren. Michael will be missed by his siblings: Sheila Stevens, Noreen Thayer, Patricia Suchenicz, Maryellen Guerrette and Timothy Murray along with several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sons, Michael Murray and Timothy Murray, his parents and his siblings, Daniel, Thomas, William and James Murray.
All Services will be private with Michael being laid to rest at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
