Michael "Chico" Joseph Wolk, 74, of West Springfield, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on July 26, 2023, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Mike was born in Suffern, NY on June 23, 1949, to Wilhelmena and Joseph Wolk. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Marist College and a Master of Business degree from Western New England College.
Mike married Maureen (Ferrell) in 1974, and together they had five children: Colleen, Kevin, Meghan, Michael, and Maura. He worked as a Production Planner and Master Scheduler at local manufacturing companies and was a member of the West Springfield Lion's Club. Nothing brought Mike more joy than cheering for his New York Yankees and taking his kids to Yankee Stadium throughout the years. His happiest place was First Encounter Beach in Eastham, where he would float in the Cape Cod Bay and play wiffle ball with his family and friends. Mike also enjoyed playing softball with the Western MA Relics, watching professional wrestling, serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, cooking large meals for his family, and playing with his seven grandchildren. He proudly celebrated 27 years of sobriety and was active in the AA community, serving as a sponsor to many in need.
Mike is predeceased by his father, Joseph, of NY, and leaves his loving wife Maureen (Ferrell) Wolk, his children and their families: Colleen (Wolk) Judd and her children, Matthew and Alannah, of Westfield; Kevin Wolk, his wife Sara (Vehr), and their daughters Ava and Mackenzie, of Mint Hill, NC; his daughter Meghan (Wolk) Hibner, her husband Calvin, and their daughter Madison, of West Springfield; his son Michael Wolk, his wife Katie Carey and their daughters Maya and Josephine, of Florence; and his daughter Maura (Wolk) Piazza and her husband Joe, of Denver, CO.
