Mildred "Millie" A. (Slinsky) Johnson

Obituary
Mildred “Millie” Ann (Slinsky) Johnson, 95, passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2022. She was born on Feb. 12, 1927 to the late Walter and Theresa Slinsky. Millie was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Class of 1944. She worked for over 20 years at New England Telephone before retiring in 1984. Millie was a caring and generous woman, a devout catholic and was baptized and married in the former Immaculate Conception Church. She was also member of the St. Ann Sodality and a longtime member of St. Thomas Church in West Springfield, where she volunteered in their library assisting in the 1st grade reading program with teacher Mrs. Turmel. Millie also taught CCD at St. Thomas for over 30 years, was a Past President of the St. Thomas Women’s Club, and won the Pope Pius Award. A lifelong tennis player, she also volunteered at Providence Hospital and was a member of the Ramapoque Women’s Society. Millie was predeceased by her husband Harold Johnson in 2007. She leaves her loving children, Richard Johnson of Westminister, VT., and Gail Stanton and her husband Larry of W. Spfld., her grandchildren; William (Kori), Daniel and Brian Stanton, Krystal Webster (Travis), Kathleen Garrity (Christopher) and Nicole Harlow (Frank), her great grandchildren; Emma and Chase Stanton, Parker, Maverick and Beckett Webster, Emmitt Garrity and William Harlow, sisters-in-law Janet Slinsky and Maureen Tyburski. Millie was also predeceased by her brothers James and Edward Slinsky. A Liturgy of Christiam Burial will be held FRIDAY 11:30 AM in St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St., W. Spfld. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be held FRI from 9 to 11 AM at TOOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST., W.Spfld. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Millie’s name to the St. Thomas School Library, 75 Pine St., W. Spfld. MA 01089
