Myrtle (Simkins) Gibbs, 91, passed away Wednesday surrounded by her loving family. Born in West Springfield, August 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Annie (Williams) Simkins. She was a graduate of the West Springfield High School class of 1945. She worked for the Prudential Insurance Company for many rears. Her husband, Howard Gibbs Jr. died in 2012. She leaves her beloved son, James Campbell and his wife Lori of Monson, her loving grandchildren, Shannan Campbell, Kelly Alvares, Sean Campbell, and Colleen DeSousa, her loving great grandchildren, Ryan Joshua and Christopher, her stepson, Paul of Springfield, her stepdaughter, Mary Katopis and her husband Chris of Palmer, her stepgrandson, Wayne Gibbs and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward, Robert and Donald Simpkins. A funeral home service will be held Wednesday at 1pm from the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St West Springfield with burial to follow in the Mass Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. A calling hour will precede the service from 12-1.
