West Springfield, Nancy J. Rumplik, 76, passed away September 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, March 22, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Phyllis (Cross) Rumplik. Nancy was very proud of her 50 year career as a registered nurse. She received her Masters Degree from The University of Massachusetts, Boston, and worked on the Oncology Unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for many years. She leaves her loving sisters, Susan Rabbitt and her husband James of West Springfield and Mary Kociela and her husband Michael of Montague. She was dearest Auntie Nancy to her nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn, Kathryn, Ethan and Patrick and to her grand niece Margot. She was predeceased by her siblings, Richard Jr. and Lawrence. Nancy received many accolades for her work including being named most outstanding nurse early on in her career. She is also one of three nurses chosen to be featured in the book “Life Support Three Nurses on the Front Line” by Suzanne Gordon. Nancy loved the ocean and spending time at Cape Cod with her family and friends. She was an avid birder and would often bring them along, binoculars in tow, to the Audubon Bird Sanctuary in Wellfleet. She loved Mary Oliver poems and all kinds of music especially Patsy Kline, John Prine and Nanci Griffith. Nancy was a beloved friend to many and had a special way of touching everyone she met. She will be deeply missed. A funeral home service will be Monday September 22, 2025, at 11 AM at the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St West Springfield with burial to follow in St Thomas Cemetery. A calling hour will be Monday from 10-11AM.
