Nino A Boccasile

March 13, 1927 — November 1, 2023

Nino A Boccasile, 96, passed away November 1, 2023. Born in Springfield, March 13, 1927, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Columbia (Bracci) Boccasile. He was predeceased by his first wife, Norma Boccasile, sister Leanora Monast, and his son Barry Boccasile. He leaves behind his wife, Janet Boccasile, step-daughter, Elisa Kirkpatrick and her husband Ryan, his grandchildren, Jacob Cressotti and his wife Julia, Victor Stark, Shaina Hibert, Nicolas Hibert, Jacob Kirkpatrick, Emma Kirkpatrick and Liam Kirkpatrick, and his honorary granddaughter, Kelly Caputo.
In his teens he worked for his uncle Gino, former owner of The Brass Rail in Southwick, and cut ice on Congamond Lakes to fill iceboxes. He proudly served in the US Army as a driver during WWII. He was seasick for the entire boat ride overseas and back home and as result, he refused to ever travel on another ship. He loved fishing and hunting with his son Barry, snowmobiling and 4 wheeling. He loved New Hampshire, and he first went there hunting with his best friend Jackie Molta in his 20’s where they built their first camp “Wild Willow”. He went on to build many more camps and had yearly hunting adventures with his son and friends. In 2011 he retired from building his own camps and became the foreman at his daughter and son-in-law’s Vermont camp. He assisted with many projects with his crowning achievement being a functional 4’ water wheel. He was an avid wood worker by trade and hobby, and you would often find him out in the garage working on a project covered in saw dust. He will be dearly missed by all his friends and family for whom he always had a story, and with whom he enjoyed sharing his time, his woodworking skills, and his opinion, which was always correct. All services are private. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
