WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA --- Pasquale V. Albino, Jr. (Pat, Junior, JR, Beany), 85, passed away following a long illness on November 20, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center. Pat was born in Waterbury, CT on April 14, 1940, son of the late Pasquale V. Sr. and Agnes (Mucci) Albino. He graduated from Crosby High School in Waterbury, CT in 1958. There he met his future wife, Monica (Evans) Albino. After high school, Pat enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served during the Vietnam war before marrying Monica in July 1965 and settling down in Waterbury, CT. Pat's only daughter, Rebecca, was born in 1972.
Pat began his life-long career as a lithographer while in Waterbury and it was his job that eventually brought the family up to Springfield, MA in 1974 where they lived on the second floor of a two-family house until 1993. Pat and Monica bought their first and only house in West Springfield in August 1993 and that is where they lived out the remainder of their years. Pat worked for several different printing companies between MA and CT over the course of his career. He landed at his last company, AM Lithography in Chicopee, MA, in 1991 where he ended his career after 17 years in August 2008.
Pat had only a few hobbies and interests, but the ones he did have he was very passionate about. In grammar school he learned to play the accordion and played recreationally at gatherings with family and friends until he was in his late 30's. He enjoyed playing golf with friends starting in his early 20's and then eventually taught and played with his daughter until he was in his early 60's. Pat was big into coin and baseball card collecting from an early age. While he stopped collecting baseball cards shortly after getting married, his love of coins lasted his entire life. From mint-grade to random collectibles, Pat's ever-growing collection was something he was very proud of and enjoyed sharing with his son-in-law and grandchildren. Pat was also an avid amateur photographer and coupled with his work in the printing business, he developed a deep understanding of the true art of photography and print development.
Pat was a fan of live, local music and was a long-standing patron at the local theater in his town, The Majestic. There he spent countless hours taking in various musicals and shows although his favorite was their summer concert series. He would most often attend those summer shows with his daughter. He never seemed to tire of seeing the same artists year after year and A-Ray of Elvis (Ray Guillemette Jr.) was one of his all-time favorite performers.
By far the longest standing hobby that Pat enjoyed was playing cards. His card playing years started early on learning how to play penny-poker with his father and sisters around the family table. Pat's love of low-key, friendly card games was something he looked forward to and talked about more than anything else. Throughout his entire adult life, he could be found playing long into the night at various establishments in the community or at friend's house games. His love of playing only increased after the passing of his wife in 2007 coupled with his retirement in 2008. At one point and for several years Pat was playing cards nearly every night of week! It was such a love of his and playing alongside so many different people made for lasting friendships through the years.
Pat became a "Papa" in 2007 with the adoption of his daughter and son-in-law's first son and was present immediately after the birth of his two other grandsons in 2009 and 2012. Papa was a quiet and stable presence for every birthday, Easter dinner, Thanksgiving dinner, and Christmas Eve. He could be counted on to bring either some new magic trick or card tricks to each gathering and for a few short years entertained summer afternoons or evening spins in his Miata convertible. Papa loved the warmer weather and sitting outside on the deck under the awning, enjoying his grandsons' pool adventures was a favorite pastime for many summers.
In addition to his parents, Pat was also predeceased by his wife Monica (Evans) Albino in November 2007. His presence will be most deeply missed by his daughter, Rebecca (Albino) Stoltzfus, her husband Greg of Westfield, MA and their three sons: Gabriel, Benjamin, and Zachary. Pat also leaves his three sisters: Barbara Zaborowski and her late husband Alfred Zaborowski of Meriden, CT, Judy Albino of Cheshire, CT and Grace Richmond and her husband Edward of West Suffield, CT. Additionally, Pat leaves a niece Jennifer (Zaborowski) Friedman and her husband Mark of Hadley, MA, and two nephews: Michael Richmond, his wife Steph and their son Kaspen of Longmeadow, MA and Travis Richmond, his wife Melissa and their two sons Ike and Hank of Windham, VT.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12 from 4:30-6:30PM at Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield, concluding with a Funeral Service at 6:30PM that is open to all. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of memorial donations or flowers, Pat and his daughter would ask you to consider taking in a show at The Majestic or supporting your local music venues in his honor.
