Obituary
- Paul Thomas Cummings, Sr., 85, of Rogers Avenue passed away Sunday at home. He was born in Wellesley, MA on June 22, 1934 to the late Peter and Helen (Courtney) Cummings. He grew up in Wellesley, but lived most of his life in West Springfield. Paul was the owner and president of Paul T. Cummings Associates of West Springfield. He built, owned, and managed local real estate for much of his life. He was a member and former President of the Home Builders Association in Springfield. He was very active in town for much of his life and was a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, member and former Chairman of the Planning Board, a town meeting member, and a member of the West Springfield Elks Lodge.  Paul also was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and St. Anthony's in Falmouth. He cherished the times he spent boating and relaxing with family at their home in Falmouth. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Betty L. (Manning) Cummings, loving father of Patricia Whelan and her husband Mark of Springfield, Paul T. Cummings, Jr. and his wife Mary of Westford, Mary Randall of Agawam, and Thomas Cummings and his wife Bethanne of West Springfield, caring brother of Maryellen Laak of Falmouth and Elizabeth Barrett of Mashpee, and the late Thomas and Francis Cummings, devoted grandfather of Sean, Kevin, and Ryan Whelan, Jimmy and Neal Cummings, Megan Randall, and Stephanie and Courtney Cummings, and great grandfather of Oliver, Zachary, Andrew and Audrey Whelan. The calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Spfld. The funeral will be Friday 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Burial will be Saturday at 11:30 am at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in East Falmouth, MA. In lieu of flowers donations in Paul’s name may be made to the Irish Cultural Center of Western New England, 429 Morgan Road, West Spfld., MA 01089 or to a charity of one’s choice.
