Paul James Klorer

May 18, 1945 — August 26, 2025

Paul James Klorer, born on May 18, 1945 in Cambridge, MA, passed away on August 26, 2025 with his loving wife of 56 years, Betsy Klorer, by his side. Paul was the son of the late Frances and James Klorer. He was raised in Winchester, MA, where he attended school and met his future bride. He and Betsy settled in West Springfield, MA, a town that they called home for 44 years. Most recently, they resided on Mascoma Lake in Enfield, NH.

Paul was a proud member of the US Air Force from 1968-1972, serving as a Loadmaster on C-123’s. He then worked as a Pharmaceutical Salesman for Lederle Laboratories where he met some lifelong friends. Paul’s last career combined his love of sports and community. He owned and operated West Side Sport Shop, Ltd. for twenty five years where he provided “Sports for all Sorts.”

Paul was one of the founders of the West Side Youth Sports Association and was very involved in sports throughout the town. Education was equally important to him and he served on the School Council for WSHS. He was an avid rock and mineral collector and enthusiast and a die hard Patriot’s fan.

Paul’s resume, his accomplishments, all feigned in comparison to the love and connection he had with his family. He was a devoted husband and a dedicated and beloved father to his three children. He was an intelligent, humorous, generous, passionate man who wore his heart on his sleeve.

He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 56 years, Betsy Klorer, his three children and their spouses, who he loved like his own, Alison Kelly (Shawn), Peter Klorer (Lindsay) and Heather Hurczyn (Michael) and five grandchildren who melted his heart, Grady Kelly, Owen and Emily Klorer and John and Isabella Hurczyn. He also leaves many dear friends who were like family to him.

Paul’s family would like to thank the Newington VA, Hartford Healthcare, and Hebrew Center for the comfort and care that they provided throughout this difficult journey.

Visiting hours will be at Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home located at 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, MA on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 11am to 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the West Side Youth Sports Association (PO Box 868, West Springfield, MA 01089) or a Tribute Donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation in Paul’s name.
