West Springfield - Pauline �Polly� J. (Donaghue) Grandpr�, 85, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 29th, 2016, at Mass General Hospital in Boston, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Milton, MA on April 18th, 1931 to the late Teresa (Walsh) and Harold Donaghue. Polly graduated from Simmons College with a BA Degree in Library Science. She was a Librarian in the Brookline Public Schools and the West Springfield Public Library for many years. Polly also taught Nursery School at Mittineaugue Methodist Preschool. She touched many children�s lives with her love of reading, kindness and patience over the course of her career. Polly was a devout Catholic, an active communicant and a Eucharistic Minister of St. Thomas Church in W. Spfld. as well as Our Saviour�s Church in Cape Canaveral, FL. She was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Program in W. Spfld. and in Florida. Polly enjoyed golfing, skiing, playing cards, cooking, the beach, walking, camping, spending winters in Florida but most especially she loved spending time with her loving husband Bob and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Polly also loved traveling with Bob. She leaves her beloved husband of 63 years, Robert E. Grandpr�, her loving children, Ellen Grandpr� -Badger and her husband Jim of Swampscott, MA, James Grandpr� and his wife Justine of Cromwell, CT, Mary Link and her husband Steve of West Springfield and Catherine Davis and her husband Ralph of Hudson, MA, her adored grandchildren, Brendon, Mae and her husband Adam, Rob and his wife Courtney, Samantha, Jake, Luke, Eric, Kayla, Rachel, Michael and Allison as well as three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Sydney and Spencer and one on the way. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7PM at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., W. Spfld. Polly�s funeral will be Wednesday, 9AM at the funeral home followed by a 10AM Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. She was a gentle, kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she touched.
