Petru Taku passed away Thursday at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield in the presence of his wife, daughter, and son. He was born in Moldova on September 14, 1954 to the late Antonia (Dron) and Gavril Taku. He came to Westfield in 2002 and lived most of his life in Agawam. Petru loved the Lord and was a member of the Moldovan Baptist Church in Agawam. He enjoyed spending time with family and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids who he could often make laugh. Petru was a hard working man and had built contraptions of different sorts that were one of the kind… He will be deeply missed but he is home with the Lord.

He was the beloved husband of Mariya (Capmari) Taku, loving father of Natalia Sinigur and her husband Mike and Viktor Taku and his wife Alla, all of West Suffield, caring brother of Maria Plamadeala. Nina Lashtur, Catea Banar, Valentina Focsha, Olga MacKay, and the late Lidia Solopa, devoted grandfather of Timothy, Nathan, Daniel, Stella, Anya, Eli, and Vlad. Calling hours will be Friday (5/31) from 6-7 pm at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield followed by a Service at 7 pm. There will be a Funeral Home Service Saturday (6/1) at 10 am at Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home followed by a burial at Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield.
