Obituary
Philip B. Jensen Sr., 80, passed away Nov. 22, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 14, 1939 to the late William and Gladys Jensen. Phil was a graduate of West Springfield High School, Class of 1958, where he was a member of the 1956 Championship Football Team and made All Western Mass in 1956 and 1957. After high school, he went to work for John Payer Painting Inc. for over 22 years before starting his own painting business, Jensen Painting for over 30 years. He was a man who enjoyed donuts, ice cream and dancing. Phil enjoyed trips to the casino and made several trips to Disney with his family. Family was important to him. He traveled to all his son’s football and hockey games along with all of his grandkids sporting events. But what he enjoyed most was, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren for hours. Phil leaves his loving wife of 61 years, Joanne Jensen, his son’s; Philip Jr., and his wife Linda of Agawam, and Michael and his wife Jan of Southwick., his grandchildren; Heather (Brian) Gallagher, Nicole (Peter) Bitzas, Brian and Natalie Jensen, his great grandchildren; Sydney Grace and Caleb Gallagher, Gabrella and Fiona Bitzas. Phil also leaves his siblings; Brian Jensen, Ann Nelson, Bruce Eaton and Dennis Eaton. He was predeceased by his other siblings; William and Ronald Jensen, Gary Eaton and Lynn Jensen. A Funeral Home Service will be held TUES 10:30 AM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST. Burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery, Feeding Hills. Calling Hours will be held TUES from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. The family would like to especially thank the doctors and nurses on the 6th floor at Baystate Medical Center for the care and compassion they gave to Phil over these last couple of weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Mass, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452
