Obituary
Phillip Edward King, Jr., 49, died on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Born in Springfield, he was the son of Phillip E. King, Sr. of Wilbraham and the late Mary (Camyre) King. An Eagle Scout, Phil was a graduate of Minnechaug Regional High School and a member of the Swim Team. He served his Country proudly in the US Marine Corps for 5 years, earning National Defense and Good Conduct Medals, badges for Sharpshooter proficiency, as well as the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. In addition to his father, Phil leaves his daughter, Layla King of Wilbraham, brother, Jeff King (Noelle) of West Springfield and sister, Melissa Carreira (Joe) of Wilbraham. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29th from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at Toomey O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield. Phil’s Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 63 Pine St., West Springfield. A Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at 1:00 PM in MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Layla King Education Fund, 321 Stony Hill Rd., Wilbraham.
