Obituary
Raymond C. DeGray, 92, passed away April 23rd with his loving wife of 70 years Anita by his side. He was born May 19, 1927 to the late Morgan and Mary DeGray. Ray was a member of the Merchant Marines. He worked for over 36 years at Pratt & Whitney before retiring as a general foreman in 1989. Ray also worked as a short order cook at Little George’s, Storrowton Tavern and Partner’s Restaurant. He was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas Church. He loved vacationing, playing cards, cooking, horse racing and trips to the casino. Besides his wife, he leaves his children; Kathleen Matera of W. Spfld., John DeGray and his wife Linda of Agawam, and Diane Murphy of W. Spfld and his son-in-law Robert of Westfield, his grandchildren; Deana, Matthew, Caitlin, Jason, Jessica, Jake and Nikki Rae, 11 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his 10 brothers and sisters. Due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus, funeral services and burial will be private. The family would like to especially thank the staff at the Agawam Healthcare for the comfort and care they provided Ray. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parish Cupboard, 1023 Main St., W. Spfld, MA 01089. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
