West Springfield- Renald “Ray” Gerard Cyr, 89, of Hampden Street passed away Wednesday at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Biddeford, ME on November 29, 1933 to the late Marguerite (Aube) and Alphonse Cyr. He has lived in West Springfield most of his life. Ray worked as a machinist for General Electric and later retiring from Tell Tool formerly of Westfield. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine during the Korean Conflict. Ray was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed golf and playing pool. He liked spending time with his grandson cooking together. He was the beloved husband of 63 yrs. to Marguerite “Peggy” G. (Bertrand) Cyr, loving father of Richard Cyr and his wife Dee of Feeding Hills and Gerard Cyr of West Springfield, and he also leaves his cherished grandson Timothy Bennett Cyr and his Mom Sue Bennett of Westfield. He was predeceased by his sister Doris Carrier. The family is greatly appreciative for the care that Ray received from Western Mass Hospice. The calling hour will be Tuesday from 11am – 12 noon at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. There will be a Funeral Home Service at 12 noon followed by a 1 pm Committal Service at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
