Obituary
Rhea Catherine Guistina, 93, of West Springfield, passed away in Florida on Saturday, February 20, 2021. Rhea was born in Springfield on July 30, 1927, the daughter of the late Raymond L. and Mary T. McCormack. She was a graduate of Commerce High School in Springfield and worked at the American Bosch Corp. in Springfield, where she met her husband, whom she married in 1954. Later she worked for the Work Opportunity Center and for many years at MassMutual, until her retirement. She is predeceased by her husband, Benjamin A. Guistina, and leaves 2 sons: Raymond (wife Amy) of Tampa, FL and David of Suffield, CT; and 2 daughters: Joanne of Palm Beach, FL and Catherine. Rhea was an avid reader who loved crossword puzzles, traveling and cats, and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the St. Thomas Woman’s Club. Family and friends will gather and remember Rhea on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Toomey O-Brien Funeral Home in West Springfield, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, West Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Women’s Club, or St Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
