Richard �Dick� West Springfield � Richard �Dick� Raymond Croteau, 69, passed away Sunday at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born in Ludlow on January 3, 1947, son to the late Raymond and Yvette (Pothier) Croteau. Dick grew up in Indian Orchard and moved to West Springfield, making it his home for over 47 years. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam. He worked as a meat cutter for George Spencer and Company and was a service technician for Roto-Rooter before he retired. He enjoyed traveling, tending to his gardens and paragliding. Dick also loved a good trade in the stock market. He was a member to the Marine Corp League in Westfield and was a Veteran volunteer at the Mass. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam for many years. Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Sheila (Bond) Croteau, his loving daughters Laurie Carey of Westfield and Marianne Rydell and her husband Kenny of Roanoke, VA. He was the cherished grandfather to Apryl Carey. He was the caring brother to Larry Croteau and his late wife Linda, Paul Croteau and his wife Beth, Bruce Croteau, and Linda Lambert and her husband Allan. Richard was predeceased by his son Richard Croteau Jr, brothers; Bobby Croteau and Donald Croteau. He will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law Sandra Croteau, many nieces, and nephews and to all who knew him. Calling hours for Dick will be Wednesday from 4-7 PM at TOOMEY-O�BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. The funeral will be Thursday 9AM at the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield. Burial to follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
