Richard Anthony Montanari,�82 , of�West Springfield�passed away Sunday at home. He was born in Springfield on August 20th, 1935 to the late Antonio and Anna (Audi) Montanari. He worked as a truck driver for over 44 years at A-C Motor Express in West Springfield. He was formerly a communicant of Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield. Richard enjoyed going to the casinos and playing the lottery daily. He loved going to the beach and lighthouses. Even though he drove for a living, he took great pleasure in taking long leisurely car rides and going out to eat. Richard was an active and longtime member of the West Springfield/Agawam�Elks Club. He bartended there for years and was voted Elk of the Year in 1984. He was the loving husband of 57 years to Barbara E. (Wood) Montanari, beloved father of Kevin Montanari and his wife Ann (Dauplaise) of Palmer, Sheila Warren of West Springfield, and LeeAna Carvalho of Ludlow, devoted grandfather of Jason Montanari, Antonio Montanari II, Krystal Carvalho, Adam Carvalho, and�Jamie Warren, and great grandfather of Brayden Francois Montanari. Richard was predeceased by his son-in-law Peter Warren in 2011. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. All funeral arrangements are private and Toomey-O�Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
