Obituary
Richard G. Thivierge (a/k/a “Captain”), 76, died peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield to the late Raymond Thivierge and Grace Dowd. Rick was the youngest of four children, brothers James and Roger, and sister Carolann Courtney, all of whom predeceased him. Rick will be sadly missed by his longtime companion Sophie Thivierge. He also leaves behind his nephews Eddie, Chuck, Kenneth and Keith, his nieces Kim, Kathy, Kelli and Theresa, as well as many friends and neighbors. Rick was a proud US Air Force Veteran. He served from 1966 to 1972 during the Vietnam War era. Upon his honorable discharge, he became a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for more than 30 years, until his retirement. Rick’s favorite past times were fishing, boating, and watching the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins. He loved his yearly vacation to Marshfield, MA and always stayed right on the beach so that he could wake up overlooking the ocean. All services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
