Obituary
Rita Irene Foley, 94, died on Monday, December 13, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 9, 1927, to Alberic and Maria (Briere) Coulombe in Lowell, MA. She was born and raised in Lowell, MA and graduated from Lowell High School. Rita and her husband, Edward Foley, Sr., moved to West Springfield in 1952 where she remained until she passed. Rita loved knitting and if you were lucky, you enjoyed snuggling under one of her beautifully knitted afghans. She loved watching western movies. Rita was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Edward Foley, Sr. She leaves behind her loving children, Elizabeth Dore (Charles) of Bonita Springs, FL, Edward F. Jr., (LouAnn) of W. Spfld., John (Nancy) of Lakeland, FL, Kathleen Cornella (Ronald) of Prescott, AZ, Timothy of W. Spfld., James (Ellen) of W. Spfld., William (Lori) of W. Spfld., Patrick (Kathleen) of Cumming, GA, Maura Collette (George) of W. Spfld., Karin Crossley (Mark) of Fleetwood, PA and Laura Manley (Tim) of W. Spfld., her 26 loving grandchildren and her 5 wonderful great-grandchildren. There will be a Funeral Home Service on Saturday, December 18th 10AM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST., WEST SPRINGFIELD followed by a burial at the St. Thomas Cemetery in West Springfield. Calling hours will be on Friday, Dec. 17th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children 516 Carew St Springfield, MA 01104 or St Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
