Obituary
Robert G. Jenkins (Bob) passed away on Friday, July 20th surrounded by his loved ones after a brief but devastating illness which he battled valiantly. Bob was born in St. Albans, VT and grew up in Longmeadow, MA. He graduated from Longmeadow High School in 1973, then lived in Stowe, VT and the Boston area before returning to Western MA where he met Carol in 1978. They married in 1984, settled in West Springfield, and went on to raise their four children together. Bob spent 30 years as a driver for UPS, retiring in 2011. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed getting to know all of his customers and co-workers over the years. Bob thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years, spending time with all of us and his dog Lucy, embracing the simple pleasures of life. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed making and keeping connections with everyone from childhood friends onward. No matter who tells a story about Bob, what stands out is the absolute joy he found in life, friendships, and above all, his family. Bob absolutely cherished his family, which he demonstrated with fierce loyalty and strength. We will miss him every day for the rest of our lives. Our family extends our heartfelt gratitude to every person in Mercy Hospital’s ICU who got to know Bob and who treated him with such care and respect. Bob is predeceased by his parents, Friend and Margaret Jenkins. He leaves behind his beloved wife and partner of 40 years, Carol (Kaminski), their cherished children, Corey and his wife Lisa, Chelsea (Pacheco) and her husband Joshua, Caitlin, and Colleen. He also leaves his two precious grandchildren: Mackenzie (Mackie) Jenkins and Robert (Bobby) Pacheco. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 26 at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be a service at the funeral home following the calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bob’s name to the American Respiratory Care Foundation at ARCFoundation.org.
