Roger E. Dion

Roger Edward Dion, 74, passed away, July 30th, after a long illness, at Country Estates. He grew up in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School in 1961 and settled in West Springfield, 55 years ago. He was an Insurance Agent for 43 years, retiring in 2007 from Canary Blomstrom Agency of Feeding Hills. He was a United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Unity Council 2212 of West Springfield. He enjoyed golf, playing cards, working in his yard, and volunteering at the West Springfield Town Hall. Roger, also, spent 28 years camping at Partridge Hollow Camp Ground in Monson. He was a friend of Bill W. for the last 35 years. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Maureen (Signet) Dion, loving father of Catherine Handler and her husband, Donald of Oakdale, CT and Patricia Clements and her husband, Donald of Wilbraham, MA, devoted grandfather of Joshua and Zachary Handler, Jacob Clements, Victoria Langlois and her husband, Steven, and great grandfather to Graham Langlois. He is caring brother of James Dion and his wife, Eva of FL, formerly of Agawam. He also, leaves Maureen�s brother and sister-in-law, David and Carol Signet of West Springfield, sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Bob Giustina of West Springfield and Karen and Fred Labelle of CA and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Thursday 9AM at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., W. Spfld. followed by a 10AM Liturgy of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 387 Chestnut St., Spfld. Burial will be in the MA Veterans� Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Calling hours will be Wednesday 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Roger�s memorty to the Springfield Rescue Mission, 110 Mill Street, Springfield, MA 01108.
