Roland Albert Miller passed away peacefully, on July 30, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Roland was born in Shelburne Vt. and moved to Hartford, CT at an early age. He graduated from St. Thomas Seminary and from the University of Hartford with a degree in accounting. He was a resident of West Springfield for the last 50 years. He served his country in the second World War as a bombardier in the Army Air Corps. Roland was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield. Roland retired from the State of CT as the head of the Public Utilities Commission. Roland was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and uncle; and a friend to whomever he met. He was hard working, determined and never afraid to take on any challenge. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Roland is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth (Buckley) Miller and his seven children; Gregory Miller and his wife Karen, Peter Miller and his wife Veronica, Susanne Gendron and her husband Bill, Teresa Leporati, William Miller, Mary Jane Cardello and her husband Joseph and Lisa Megliola Corridan and her husband Michael. Roland is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his three sisters-in-law, Mary Miller, Carol Miller and Marie Langrill. Roland was predeceased by his mother Mary St. Pierre Miller, his father Frederick Miller, his brothers, Father Bernard Miller, Donald Miller and Dr. Robert Miller and his sisters, Thelma Preu and Preu and Marjorie Miller and by his grandson Jeffery Leporati. Roland�s funeral will be Wednesday, 11AM at the TOOMEY-O�BRIEN Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., W. Spfld. with a 12 � noon Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St. Burial will follow in MA Veteran�s Memorial Cemetery.
