West Springfield-Rudolf J. Rexer, 89, of West Springfield passed away after a brief illness. Rudolf was born in Mannheim, Germany to Karl and Lina (Hatzenbulher) Rexer and has a sister Marianna. He was predeceased by his brother Felix. Growing up he was so impressed with the way the American soldiers treated the children of Germany that he decided that when he was able he would become an American Citizen. Rudy was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce and a graduate of Western New England College. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Hamilton Standard for 34 years. He was the owner-operator of Silver Brook Stables horse farm. He was predeceased by his wife Agnes (Bengle) and his daughter Andrea. He is survived by his son Karl of Chigiak, AK, his daughter Kristine Towse and her spouse Douglas of West Springfield; his grandchildren Kayla Rexer, Elizabeth Carlson and her husband Paul and their son Nicholas, Jacob Towse, Adam Bourdon and his wife Mary and their son Theodore, Samuel Rexer and his wife Savannah and their child Emma. A Funeral Service will be held at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN Funeral Home in West Springfield on Friday March 28 at 11 a.m. followed by committal at St. Thomas Cemetery.
