Ruth Beatty, 89, died peacefully at Bethesda East Hospice Care in Boynton Beach, FL on August 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Ruth was born in Bennington, Vermont to Walter and Ruth Ostrander. She is predeceased by her parents and two brothers Walter and William as well as two of her sons, Joseph LaFlamme (2023) and David LaFlamme (1990) and their father, Leo LaFlamme (2008).
In her life, Ruth enjoyed 36 years of marriage to her late husband, Joseph Beatty (2021). During their marriage they relished in many opportunities to travel to places like Hawaii and Ireland as well as spending time at home with their families and friends in both Westfield, Massachusetts and Lake Worth, Florida. A kind, caring and tenacious woman, Ruthie helped anyone in need, providing advice, companionship or homemade jam and relish! Ruth spent many days caring and tending to her friendships and family, but she also loved her garden and yard. She grew beautiful flowers and never let one weed live with her lupins!
Ruth and Joe also were involved in the flea market business, which they enjoyed as it thrived during their retirement years.
Ruth's surviving children are Mary Christine Millette (James), Carol Ann LaFlamme, Marie Ramore (Joseph), Christopher LaFlamme, and Richard LaFlamme. She is also survived by her late husband’s children: Karen Corey (Bill), Carl Beatty (Brenda) and Linda LaFond (Fred).
One of Ruth’s greatest joys in life was being “Grammy” to her 15 grandchildren: Lucien (Leann), Nicholas (Sarah), Kim, Vanessa, Joseph (Chelsea), Tiffany (Alex), Brittany (Colleen), Nicole, Sean, Jessie, Jacqueline, Melissa, Heather, Mary Ellen and Shannon. Ruth is also survived by11 great-grandchildren. Ruth will also be missed by her two surviving sisters: Millie Harrington and Hazel Ford, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Ruth’s care teams both at Heartland Nursing Care Center and the hospice care wing of Bethesda East Hospice Care. Their caring, humorous nature was invaluable when caring for Ruth until the end.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 11am on Saturday, September 27 at St. Mary’s Church in Westfield. She will be interred in a family cemetery in Huntington, Massachusetts next to her former spouse, Joseph Beatty.
