Obituary
Ruth E. Dudley, 89, passed away July 2, 2022. She was born July 28, 1932 to the late Lawrence and Alice (Albritton) Dudley. Ruth was a graduate of Easthampton High School. She went to nursing school at Westfield State Sanatorium, now known as Western Mass Hospital. Ruth worked at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home, Chestnut Knoll and the Sisters of Providence Mothers’ House for many years as a LPN. She believed in God and Jesus and attended Mittineague Congregational Church in West Springfield. Ruth loved to be by the ocean and spent many summers in South Wellfleet on Cape Cod. She was very generous with her money, giving thoughtful Christmas and birthday gifts. She also valued education, giving money for extracurricular activities and higher education. Ruth leaves her brother Robert Dudley of West Springfield, niece Paula Kurt and her husband Thomas and her great niece and goddaughter Andrea Kurt, all of Mt. Pleasant, SC, niece Kelly Stergakis and her husband John, great niece Ariadne, great nephews Jordan and Jonathan of Newington, CT., and Ruth’s cousins Elizabeth Brewer of South Hadley and Michael Brewer of Greenfield, MA. A Memorial Service will be held TUES Aug 9th at 11 AM in the Mittineague Congregational Church, 1840 Westfield St., W. Spfld. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Inn, 7 Free St., Westfield, MA 01085.
