Sandra Lee (Antaya) Macero, 76, of West Springfield, MA died on November 3, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.  Born and raised in Springfield, MA on April 17, 1943, Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Lionel and Rita Antaya and her sister, Beverly (Antaya) Caracciolo who affectionately referred to her as “Sanj”. Sandra is survived by her loving husband Daniel G. She worked at Prudential Insurance Company out of high school, raised her two children and went back to Prudential where she made lifelong friends until she retired.  Sandra loved cooking, spending time with her family and her devoted husband, who she loved with her whole heart.  She was an avid gardener and loved the ocean, specifically Marco Island, FL.  She loved rainy Sundays and watching the Patriots and the Red Sox.  Sandra loved to decorate her house for every holiday, especially Christmas, when she would get together with her lifelong friends, Donna and Virginia, who she considered family, affectionately referring to them as her “White Street Girls”.  Sandra never let her diagnosis bring her down, she always made a bad situation into a good one – “No long faces, only happy smiling faces is what I need”.  Sandra’s family would like to thank the team at Sister Caritas Cancer Center who not only treated her for her sickness, but also treated her like family, specifically Dr. Masih Farooqui and Sandra’s Oncology Nurse and friend, Becky DeJesus, who helped her through her most challenging times with her love, friendship, exceptional care and who was with her until the end.  We would also like to thank Sandra’s team of nurses at Mercy Medical Center ICU, specifically Joe, Karen, Stacy, Eric, Meghan, Dr. Loaiocano and Dr. Levreault, who treated Sandra with kindness and dignity.  Calling hours for Sandra will be held on Friday at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield, MA from 11AM to 1PM.  A Funeral Home Service will be held on Friday at 1PM. The burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandra’s name to Sister Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
