Obituary
Shirley F. (Eastman) Newsome, 95, passed away Jan 20, 2021. She was born Dec. 23, 1925 to the late Homer and Margaret Eastman. Shirley graduated from Technical High School. She worked for many years as an assistant manager at Monarch Life Insurance Co. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling around the country with her husband in their van. Shirley loved doing anything with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Albert E. Newsome Jr., in 1993 and her son Ronald A. Newsome in 1981. Shirley leaves her children; Bonnie F. Danforth and her husband Ralph of W. Springfield., and Albert E. Newsome III and his wife Janice of Arlington, TX, her grandchildren; Karen Danforth, Debra Gearty and her husband Francis, Tracie Witte and her husband Michael, David Newsome and his wife Lisa, and Christina Stamey and her husband Daniel, her great-grandchildren; Marisa, Alicia (husband Jeffrey), Lindsay, Trevor, Devin, Gabrielle, Ryan, Reagan, Kyle and Brooke, her great-great-grandchildren; Claire and Henry. Shirley also leaves two sisters; Joyce Geiger of Feeding Hills and Diana Vandall of Springfield. along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services and Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Shirley’s name to the Parkinson’s Disease Assn, Massachusetts Chapter, 720 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02134. The Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
