Shirley R. (Jamieson) Sutter, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family throughout the day and in the arms of her daughter, Susan on Friday. She was born in Montague and was a lifelong resident of W. Spfld. Shirley volunteered for several years at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke where she touched the lives of many of our Veterans and their families. She spent many years by the side of her husband Orlin at the Soldiers Home. She loved camping and candle pin bowling, the penny poker nights with her bowling buddies and the mini trips with her friends. She enjoyed shopping and her motto was when in doubt or if on sale, always buy two, never could know if someone else could use it. She stayed in touch over the years with her high school classmates and enjoyed their lunches over the years. The joy of her life was spending time with her family and friends, especially at the holidays. Everyone was always welcomed at her table, where there was always food galore or a game of uno and crummy rummy going on. Her smile and glowing personality would light up a room and she was always the first one to volunteer or be there to help a friend or family member or just to be there to listen. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband, Orlin Sutter, her brother Harold of S. Hadley and sister Mildred of Wisconsin. She leaves behind her sister Norma Lane of W. Spfld. She leaves her loving children, Cindy Bourque and her husband Bill of W. Spfld., Susan Sutter of Chicopee, Judy Sutter of Florida, Tom Sutter and his wife Lisa of Holden and Joey Sutter and his wife Jane of W. Spfld., her treasured grandchildren, Lisa, Brian, Amy, Kerstin, Mackenzie, Karyn and Laura and her precious great-grandchildren, Abigail, Max, Andrew and Nathan as well as several wonderful nieces and nephews. There will be a Funeral Home Service, Tuesday at 2PM at the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St. W. Spfld., calling hours will precede the service from 12:30-2PM, burial to follow at MA Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Birch Manor Nursing Home and the nurses with Hospice for their compassion and care during her time at the nursing home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Soldiers Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040 . For online condolences please visit toomeyobrien.com.
