Obituary
Stephen P. Hayes, 79, passed away January 20, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield, March 28, 1942, he was the son of the late William and Eleanor (LaMontagne) Hayes. He worked as a firefighter in West Springfield for many years, was a meat cutter for George Spencer and Company and delivered flowers for Elm St Florists. He was a graduate of Agawam High School and attended STCC. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in West Springfield, Treasurer of the Fireman’s Relief Assn., Brotherhood of International Firefighters 2212, elected member of the West Springfield Retirement Board for 27 years and a West Springfield Town Meeting Member. He leaves his beloved wife, Doris “Dori” (Stafford) Hayes, his loving daughters, Kimberly (Craig) Hayes of Agawam and Shelley (Rob) Hayes of Aurora, IL, his beloved siblings, William and his wife Theresa of Miami, FL, Barbara Dowd of Waterford, CT, Daniel and his wife Patricia of Cape Cod and Peter and his wife Mimi of Palo Alto, CA, his beloved grandchildren, Joseph and Laura, Alexa, Addison Rose and Taylor, his loving great grandchildren, Paige and Rachel, his beloved stepchildren, John Quinn of NC, and Kimberly (Ted) Melfi of Boca Raton, FL. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul and Vincent. A funeral home service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at noon from the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St West Springfield with calling hours from 10-12. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baystate Hospice, 30 Capital Dr., West Springfield, MA 01089
